Newport Cottages specializes in creating fine benchmade furniture in selected hardwoods that is not only unique in style and design, but unique in the method of construction and its finishes. Each piece is hand finished to your specifications and color selections making each Newport Cottages piece a truly unique work of art designed to last a lifetime.

Each piece of Newport Cottages furniture is benchmade using quailty craftsmanship and traditional woodworking techniques such as mortise & tenon joinery, rail and stile construction as well as inlaid raised panels. The term "benchmade" is used when an item is individually built from start to finish on the bench of a highly skilled carpenter. Artisans hand turn on a lathe all of the posts and legs for each piece of furniture. In an era of mass production, imports and computerized machinery, this is an art form seldom used by most furniture manufacturers.

Newport Cottages uses select domestic hardwoods and manufactures their furniture in the U.S. A hand rubbed finish is carefully applied to each piece and each piece is carefully inspected before it ships to you.

Color lots may vary from batch to batch - to achieve the closest possible match, customers are encouraged to order furniture in the same color concurrently. Stained finishes will allow irregular grain patterns and discoloration in the wood to be visible, therefore, if stained finishes are desired, they are recommended for the tops, backs and knobs.

All base prices are for a standard solid color finish, knobs may have a secondary color at no additional charge. Options such as trim on mouldings and secondary finishes on tops or interior backs will incur a 10% upcharge. Custom finishes and colors are available, please contact us for information.
